Presentation evening report

The Club held its annual Presentation Evening on Friday the 8th November.  It was attended by 45 people and it was a great evening to celebrate the past summer and present the trophies to the winners and runners-up in the club’s annual knock out tournaments.

An hour of quizzing was forllowed by pie and peas courtesy of Spudbunnie before Chairman MicK Mason gave his annual speech.  This year he addressd the importance of volunteers to the club over its long history and to the reason behind its formation, namely in commemoration to the local volunteer soldiers who died in WW1.  He recalled some of the many challenges the club had faced over the years to be where it was today, all thanks to unpaid voluneteers.

Rob Mitchell then paid tribute to the players who had represented the club during the summer and had some unusual surprises for Jamie Macefield, Jack Lee and Ben Kay.  A fan for Jamie to keep him cool when the temperature got over 25 degrees, a small wheelbarrow to thank Jack for carrying him all season and a special Ben Kay cup for the inpenetrable formula behind the performance table Ben produces for players.

Mel Wright then presented the trophies to the winners and runners up of the knock out tournamentsp that had run through the summer.  After that there was a good raffle and the evening was finished with another 4 rounds of the quiz.  Thanks to Will Davis for another good quiz – the scores were pretty close.

the match season has now finished and  the collection of match fees is taking place.  Each playeer shoudl have received a lmessage via What’s app group with a sheet setting out the fees for their matches. Can those people pay the fees as soon as possible to the club account please.
