Court closure during lockdown

The Club’s Management Committee has unanimously decided that, in view of the Prime Minister’s statement last night, all tennis activity on the courts should stop for the period of the lockdown.  The club feels that is cannot be seen to be sanctioning or encouraging tennis activity during this period.  Most members have to drive to get here and  travelling is only allowed for work and then if only absolutely necessary.   Just getting here for most would be breaching the guidance.  The bowls club are also taking a similar stance so there will be no Bowls Club activity and the small playground on the Sports Club’s ground will also be closed.  I know this will disapppoint people but we feel that it is right thing to do.  This decision will be reviewed as soon as the lock down itself is reviewed by the government.  Updates will be posted when there is anything more to report.  Everybody keep safe and hope to see you before too long.

Just over an hour after the above was posted yesterday (24th March), the LTA issued guidance to every Registered Venue that all tennis courts must be closed and all tennis activity suspended until further notice.
