Despite the grim conditions on Wednesday night (30th) Moorgate B and Welbeck played out the knockout cup final at Ridgeway under the lights. Amazingly the rain just about stopped at 6:00 pm and, apart from being damp and miserable, there was no further rain until 10 minutes after the finish. The match lasted until 8:35 pm and it was Moorgate B that ran out the winners by just 3 games. The match brought the curtain down on this year’s Works League League programme which, in any normal year, would have finished by the middle of July. The Works League Chairman, John McGleave, thanked the club for the co-operation in letting the final be played at Ridgeway.
