Easter Activity Camp at Ridgeway – 11th -14th April 2022
From Monday the 11th to Thursday the 14th an activity camp for youngsters is being held at the Sports and Social Club, similar to one that was run a couple of years ago. As part of this the youngsters will have access to the various facilities and do a wide range of activities, one of which will be have access to the tennis courts. This will not interfere with members being able to access the courts during the day. It is likely that they will use the top court and will try to do the activity on the courts when no one is there. The organisers and helpers are all qualified, trained and vetted and have been asked to make sure members are not inconvenienced. The camp will finish by the time the evening access to the courts is required for coaching, social tennis etc.
Tuesday 5th April – 13:15 pm -15:15 pm – school using courts
On Tuesday the 5th April Ridgeway Primary School are going to be using the courts for two hours between 1:15 pm and 3:15 pm for a coaching session run through an LTA initiative to get young children at Primary School age playing tennis. The Primary programme includes detailed inclusive PE lesson plans focused on developing fundamental movement skills, and the children, as part of the scheme, will have seen accompanying videos showing the activities in action. Hopefully this initiative will be benficial for both the children and the tennis c;lub.
The courts will not be available for members during this period.
Open Day – 3rd April – Don’t miss it!

Our season kicks off with our Open Morning, the first since 2019! The 2020 one was cancelled as the pandemic started and we were still in the middle of problems in 2021. Here’s to a great 2022.
Court cleaning delayed
The court cleaning did not go ahead on M<onday. The contractors started but had to abort after a problem with the machine they were using. They will be returning but not until April 19th which is disappointing.
Before they left they did spray all the bowling green side to reduce any further moss development.
Court cleaning – courts shut 21st and 22nd March
Court cleaning will take place on Monday the 21st March and will finish on Tuesday 22nd March if everything goes to plan. The courts will not be available to use during this period. This site will be updated once the work is completed.

Court cleaning imminent
The courts will be undergoing a full clean later this month. Due to commence on the 21st March 2022, weather and other factors permitting, the cleaning will take two to three days. Play will not be possible during that process. This site will be updated with the exact date as soon as the club is notified by the contractor.
Defibrillator on the club grounds
The defibrillator, situated on the gable end of the Sports and Social Club building, has now been replaced. It was taken out for an emergency in November 2021 and a replacement unit was ordered shortly after but has only just arrived. It has been registered with the NHS Ambulance Service.
No Covid restrictions – first time since March 2020
In view of the latest Government guidance all Covid restrictions and guidelines have been stopped. This means that the club will no longer be recording attnednaces at social sessions. Thes details were only collected for the purposes of the Government’s Test and Trace system. All data collected for that purpose will now be deleted from the club records to comply with the data protection laws. It means the club wil revert to the normal activities we enjoyed prior to the onset of Covid.
